DOUTZEN | Fitted Skipper Sweater 100% wool

The Doutzen skipper sweater is our unique skipper sweater, specially designed for women. For our women's sweater, we took the sturdy aspects of the skipper sweater and combined them with a refined look and fit. This makes the Doutzen skipper sweater not just a skipper sweater for women, but actually *the* skipper sweater for women. The sweater is characterized by its refined pearl stitch, which ensures that the sweater wears wonderfully smoothly and retains its shape beautifully. The sweater is made from 100% Sport Loden wool. This wool comes from the Schoeller spinning mill in Austria. This wool quality is sustainably produced and of exceptional quality. The wool we use for the Doutzen skipper sweater is incredibly soft (approaching Merino wool), but it is much stronger and more durable than this type of wool. This makes it a sweater that you will enjoy for a long time.

Heritage details

The Doutzen skipper sweater is highly recognizable due to the inclusion of our heritage details. Since 1886, we have proudly made our Rooscap skipper cap. Our Rooscap has been made with black details for over 130 years. These black details are also found on the Doutzen skipper sweater. For example, the sustainable YKK zipper is matte black, and black metal details are incorporated into the sweater. This gives the Doutzen skipper sweater the authentic look it deserves, but with a modern twist. In addition, the Doutzen skipper sweater features our RW signature stitch at the end of the sleeves and at the bottom. This is now a chic detail on our sweaters and cardigans, but it used to have a completely different function. The unique knits in a sweater or cardigan allowed people to recognize the origin of a crew member or a drowning victim. In this way, clothing was used to communicate. A beautiful story, isn't it?

Doge jo wol?

As mentioned, we make the Doutzen skipper sweater from a sustainable wool quality, spun by Schoeller. This yarn distinguishes itself by its quality. This 100% wool yarn approaches the softness of Merino wool but has the strength of coarser wool. This means the sweater can even withstand seawater. This yarn possesses these properties without being stiff.

We refer to this wool quality as Doge Jo Wol. “Doge Jo Wol?” is a well-known Frisian expression meaning: “Are you good?”. Well, our wool certainly is! The wool is obtained from sheep that are kept in a good way. There is no animal cruelty, and the processing respects people, animals, and the environment.
