1886 / 1928
JOHANNES HILLEBRANDUS ROOSENSTEIN

Johannes is the founder of Roosenstein Wolke. On November 27, 1886, he started making and selling our skipper cap: The Rooscap. He learned how to make caps from the famous hatmaker Adam Zelle. Adam Zelle would later become known as Mata Hari's father.

1928 / 1965
JACOBUS JOHANNES ROOSENSTEIN

Jacobus Johannes, as the second generation, expanded the business into a cap factory & men's clothing store. This shop was located on the Suupmarkt in Sneek.

1965 / 1990

FRANS ROOSENSTEIN AND HETTY WOLKE

Frans and Hetty decided in 1965 to continue the business in its original form. The men's fashion store was divested, and they continued together with the production and sale of skipper's caps. Since Hetty mainly took on the production of the caps, the company name was changed to its current form. As demand for caps decreased over time, they also became the founders of our Frisian skipper's sweater, which we still make in the same way and with the same supplier.

1990 / 2025

LIESETH ROOSENSTEIN

Lieseth has developed the company into a fully-fledged clothing brand since 1990. It started by creating a total collection, which laid the foundation for today's collection. This made the brand a well-known name in the watersports sector. In addition to workwear for fishing and shipping, consumers in recreational boating were now also served.

2018 / PRESENT

HESSEL ROOSENSTEIN

Since 2018, under the leadership of Hessel, there has been a change in direction. Where seasonal collections were previously made, we have reduced the collection to an "evergreen" collection with timeless items. With this, we have chosen to focus on improving the sustainability & quality of the products. We have chosen to only continue with products made from 100% natural yarns. These products are fully reusable, recyclable & biodegradable.
